Centre policy

Malpractice and maladministration

CPCAB requires every approved centre to have these policies in place. They apply to us as much as to you, and service to protect the integrity of your qualification.

Maladministration

Maladministration means any activity or practice that results in the centre not complying with CPCAB requirements. It is usually the result of mistakes, poor record-keeping or misunderstanding rather than intent.

Examples

Late or inaccurate learner registrations, failure to keep assessment or attendance records, insufficient internal quality assurance, not following published assessment procedures, or failing to meet the terms of our centre approval.

What we do

The centre manager reviews procedures each year and after any incident. Where maladministration is identified we correct it, tell anyone affected, notify CPCAB where required, and put a written action plan in place to prevent it happening again.

02

Malpractice

Malpractice is any deliberate act, or serious negligence, that compromises the integrity of assessment or the validity of a qualification. It can involve learners, tutors or the centre itself.

Learner malpractice

Plagiarism or submitting work that is not your own, fabricating client or placement hours, falsifying supervision records, copying another student's work, or impersonation in assessment.

Centre or tutor malpractice

Giving learners undue assistance with assessed work, amending or inventing assessment records, claiming certificates for learners who have not met the criteria, or obstructing an external verifier.

How we respond

Suspected malpractice is investigated by the centre manager. Assessment decisions may be suspended while we look into it. You will be told what has been alleged, given the chance to respond, and told the outcome in writing. Proven malpractice can mean work being void, removal from the course, and, where CPCAB requires it, referral to the awarding body.

03

Reporting a concern

If you suspect malpractice or maladministration - by another student, a tutor or the centre - tell us in writing at contact@traineecounsellor.co.uk, with as much detail as you can give. We acknowledge every report within seven working days.

Reports are treated confidentially, shared only with those who need to act on them. Nobody who raises a genuine concern in good faith will be disadvantaged for doing so. If you are not satisfied with our handling of it, you can take the matter to CPCAB directly.
